Usefulness of Tc-99m RBC SPECT/MRI fusion imaging in small suspected hepatic hemangiomas.

چکیده
Evaluation of Tc-99m red blood cell (RBC) SPECT in suspected hemangioma of the liver shows a high sensitivity and specificity when lesions are larger than 2 cm, and allows for the discrimination between hemangioma and other hepatic lesions. However, its major limitation arises with small size lesions. The accuracy of Tc-99m RBC SPECT in small suspected hemangiomas of the liver might improve the registration and fusion of 3-dimensional images from Tc-99m RBC SPECT and MRI. The authors report a patient presenting with a small suspected hepatic hemangioma, for whom this technique played a crucial role in establishing the final diagnosis.

Gliomas account for almost 80% of primary malignant brain tumors in adults. Magnetic Resonance imaging (MRI) is still the gold standard for diagnosis of brain tumors and brain 99mTc-tetrofosmin Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (99mTc-tetrofosmin-SPECT) has been established as a useful tool for their evaluation. Fluorine-18–2-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose positron emi...
متن کاملTc-99m-RBC scan in diagnosis of hepatic hemangioma [Persian]
Four patients with sonographic suggestion of hepatic hemangioma are studied with Tc99m-labeled RBC scan. The scan findings are compaired with other imaging modalities. Lesions as small as 36 mm could be detected by this method. Tc99m labeled RBC scan is a valuable tool to differentiate hepatic hemangioma from other space occupying lesion of the liver.
متن کاملTechnological value of SPECT/CT fusion imaging for the diagnosis of lower gastrointestinal bleeding.
The aim of this study was to assess the clinical value of diagnosing and locating lower gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/computed tomography (CT) fusion imaging with 99mTc labeled red blood cells ((99m)Tc-RBC). Fifty-six patients with suspected lower GI bleeding received a preoperative intravenous injection of (99m)Tc-RBC and each underwent...
متن کاملApplication of heat-damaged Tc-99m RBCs in a patient with suspected hepatic metastasis
We present a patient with a remote history of splenectomy and recent hemicolectomy for colon adenocarcinoma. On routine surveillance chest/abdomen/pelvis CT, a lesion suspicious for hepatic metastasis was identified. Followup MRI was inconclusive. For more specific tissue characterization, imaging with Tc-99m heat-damaged RBCs was obtained to guide further patient management. Tc-99m-labeled, he...
متن کاملTo what extent can diverse types of liver lesions mimic hemangiomas? A retrospective quantitative analysis of masses found to be positive in SPECT/CT with labeled blood cells – a preliminary report
BACKGROUND Although specificity of SPECT/CT examination using technetium-99m radiolabeled red blood cells (Tc-99m-RBC) for detection of liver hemangiomas is very high, it is still not perfect. It is possible to overlook a malignancy. Moreover, the difference in accumulation of RBCs between a hemangioma and uninvolved liver remains unknown. The aim of the study is to determine the quotients of a...
